Pathway to Success (part 2)

Starting a business is exciting, a little bit scary at times and a huge leap of faith because you believe in your product or service with all of your heart. This is what makes so many entrepreneurs successful this belief and the willingness to work all hours of the day and night to achieve their goals. However, this belief needs to be put up on the shelf for Stage 2 of the Pathways.

What? How? What?

I know. I know. You are thinking I have lost my mind, but I am serious. You cannot complete this stage with the blind belief that your business is the greatest. You have to be gut wrenching honest with yourself during this stage in order to set yourself up for the long-term success you are working towards. So take your blinders off and lets take a real look at your business.

It may seem a little scary at first, but we have a great coaches that can help you work through the process and can also help with some of the data you are going to need to complete your market research. Stage 2 is about identifying your market including market environment, market size, target market, industry profile, customer profile and competitive analysis. This stage includes some heavy lifting and a lot of honesty on your part, but you will be so happy you took the time to know your market.

Sometimes as entrepreneurs we get caught in the “this is my plan” mode and miss opportunities right in front of our faces. The very best advice I got when I started my business was:

“Never be so stuck to your plan or idea that you miss an opportunity that presents itself!”

I have used this advice every day since starting my business and I feel like I am successful today because I didn’t let opportunities pass me by when they came up in business. Stage 2 will help you analyze all the opportunities available right now to you in your business. Who wouldn’t want to know that information? Yes it is going to take you some time, but the return on this time investment will be huge for you and your business. Remember we are here to help you through coaching or we can set you up with a mentor who has been in your shoes. Don’t try to do this all by yourself, when you have a wealth of information and assistance at your fingertips.
